PUMA x STAPLE “Gidra” Clyde Friends & Family
Description:
Our partnership with PUMA continues with this iconic Clyde design inspired by Gidra, the Asian-American student-run newspaper created in response to anti-Asian sentiment in 1969.
The PUMA x STAPLE “Gidra” collection builds on the intention and art style of the original publication’s design elements. This latest and most coveted edition allows the wearer to decide how much they want to share of the Gidra story by cutting away panels of the sneaker to reveal a secret under layer.
This new iteration of the classic Puma silhouette features a tear-away nylon outer to reveal archival Gidra artwork on a premium leather upper, a zig zag eye stay design, Gidra graphics on leather tongue labels and insoles, contrast snakeskin Formstrip, along with the Pigeon and Puma logos on the back heel tabs.
In addition to the collaboration, $20,000 has been donated to “Visual Communications Media,” a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization founded in 1970 with the mission to develop and support the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander filmmakers and media artists who empower communities and challenge perspectives.
